Although such teas are being praised for their amazing health benefits, some people still remain in the dark as to what the obsession is with them and what they are actually putting into their body.
First of all, and most importantly, a cup of Lyons or Barry’s does not qualify as a detox tea. If you’re looking to cash in on this new craze, there is no place for a drop of milk, sugar or sweeteners. Such functions of it include boosting your metabolism, burning stored fat, suppressing cravings, raising energy levels, reducing bloating and improving skin complexion to name but a few. If you tend to constantly feel sluggish, suffer with bad skin or are trying to lose weight, a tea detox has the potential to work wonders. It may be hard to believe that many advantages can come from drinking tea, but it’s all true if you remain patient enough to drink it routinely and therefore see the results.
However, it is important to remember that all things should be taken in moderation, and the health benefits associated with these teas don’t materialise by magic. Despite the fact it has been proven that drinking detox tea can make serious improvements both physically to your body and mentally to your wellbeing, there are, of course, negative side effects too. Detox teas can be highly caffeinated (some more than others) and according to author Patricia Romas, these high levels of caffeine from excessive drinking can cause heightened anxiety, heart palpitations and sleeping problems. Another negative drawback is that energy levels can actually be lowered as opposed to raised if a tea detox isn’t complemented with the correct detox diet foods.
Overall, there are many great benefits associated with drinking detox teas. The fact their ingredients are natural and organic leaves you feeling assured that you’re filling your body with the right stuff to help flush those pesky toxins away and to allow you to get the most of the nutrients you consume. However, if you are considering a “tea detox”, it is important to eat well and regularly exercise too in order to experience only the good side effects. And don’t forget, it’s not criminal to indulge in cup of Lyons every now and again too – finding the right balance is key. All things considered, with some careful planning and awareness, detox tea is a health kick that everyone can get on board with.
