I'm a bit of a home bird, and to be 17,200 kilometres away from my home in County Wicklow, Ireland, is a bit of a strange feeling.
Yep that's right, I'm in Sydney, Australia. Home to Bondi Beach, the Sydney Opera House, and of course Kangaroos.
I decided last year that this is where I want to spend summer 2014. My brother lives here with his girlfriend and they have just had the most beautiful baby boy, who they named Jackson. So I flew all this way just to give him a cuddle, and it was so worth it!
I won't lie, the journey was horrendous. Almost 24 hours travelling on two different planes was quite exhausting, not to forget mentioning that that the TV on my first flight, which was seven hours long, didn't work, and I almost missed my connection flight in Abu Dhabi because my flight from Dublin was delayed.
But I think the worst part was saying goodbye to my Mammy back in Dublin. The longest time I have spent away from home is two weeks, and this time its two months, so it's going to be hard.
Despite all that, I have found recently that I have got a bit of a travel bug, I want to explore the world, or as it's called, Wanderlust. According to an app I have, I have only seen four percent of countries worldwide, so I suppose this is the beginning of my journey around the world.
I have only been here for four days so far, so I haven't got to see much of Sydney, but I love it already. I arrived in Sydney at half six Saturday evening, and I was on the piss two hours later, despite my lack of sleep. But sure look, I'm Irish amn't I.
There is so much for me to do and see while I'm here, and I have two months to do it. But for now I'm just trying to get used to this God damn time difference and trying to shift this jet lag!
So here's where I'm going to write about all my adventures down under for the next two months, enjoy!
