Traditionally’ Galentine’s Day is celebrated on the 13th of February just before Valentine’s Day, but since Valentine’s is already over, why not take a day, afternoon or evening off and do something special with your friends to mark the occasion!
The inspiration for Galentine’s Day came from the show “Parks and Recreation” in 2010.
The idea of having a special day for your friends is amazing, after all, what would we do without them? Although it is not an official holiday, it’s still an occasion to mark on your calendar.
Here are some ideas of how to spend your Galentine’s Day, and some spots in Dublin that go well with them:
1) A lunch date is a cute way to celebrate the day with your girls if you are tired of going for your usual Nando’s or Eddie Rockets. How about trying Luigi Malone’s in Temple Bar? The restaurant has a great lunchtime menu which consists of two courses for €11. They also have an early bird menu which is 2 courses for €19.95 and 3 courses for €24.95.
2) If you and your friends aren’t fans of going out for food, the Stellar Theater in Rathmines is an excellent alternative. The cinema can be the best place to have a laugh over a nice chic-flick or rom-com.
The Stellar is ideal for relaxing and enjoying some of your favourite films; it shows a variety of different films each day, make sure to check out the website to see the listings!
3) Drive through cinemas have come back into style over the last number of years; another alternative to going to a traditional cinema. If there is a smaller group of you, this is a fun way to spend your Galentine’s.
Retro drive-in movies have three different locations one in Leopardstown racecourse, Galway racecourse and Cork racecourse. Why not re-watch and sing along to “A star is born” or “Frozen” with the girls?
4) Although it is lovely to go out and get dressed up a girly night in, is another lovely way to celebrate your Galentine’s.
Several cups of tea, matching pjs, nibbles and your favourite film, board game or a simple catch-up.. what more could you want!
Whatever way you choose to spend your Galentine’s Day, be sure to show your friends how important they really are.
It doesn’t have to be an expensive day full of gifts, but more so the gesture of taking time out from your busy schedule to spend time together.
