BAFTAs 2018: 5 Best Dressed

Award season is upon us, which means that Oscars weekend is just around the corner. Last night’s BAFTAs were a teaser of the great style to come and gave us a peek at this year’s front runners. As always in the world of fashion, there are fashion faux pas and iconic outfits that go down as some of the best dressed of the season. Last night saw the women in black steal the show as well – as those who may have taken too much of a risk on the red carpet. Here are’s 5 best dressed at the 2018 BAFTAs:

Best Dressed:

1. Julia Stiles

Loved this look on Julia Stiles, she wore this dress very well and the deep V was subtle without showing too much. What stood out about this look was that it doesn’t strike you as red carpet glam, it’s more about the design on the dress and the fabric, something that screams summer event more so than the BAFTAs. She styled her look with a few rings and went for a slight smokey eye paired with a darker nude lip.

2. Sophie Turner:

She turned heads in this sparkling Louis Vutton dress last night. The metallic, that high slit, paired with a deep V – the starlet looked glam. She paired her outfit with black heels, drop earrings and a heart shaped pendant around her neck. She styled her hair in loose waves and went for very subtle makeup as well, opting for a nude lip to finish off her look.

3. Jennifer Lawrence:

The Oscar winner looked regal and poised on the red carpet, in a black gown that featured a cross between a white shawl and sleeves. The dress made its own statement, proving that the Time’s Up campaign is no longer stateside, it has crossed the pond. Lawrence opted for slicked back hair and a bold red lip as she styled her look with minimal jewellery. She looked like an awards season pro, a stark contrast from her very first Oscars look many moons ago. Lawrence’s style has aged quite gracefully as has the actress.

4. Naomie Harris:

There is only one word to describe this look, fierce. I’m obsessed with this look. It’s a cross between a pant dress, but what really pulls this look together is the material, from the fringed sleeves to the pattern from the split. What really stole the show here had to be the attention to detail on the fabric, it was BAFTA material. The hair, the makeup, the simplicity of this look is just stunning. It’s unconventional and it is a risky look but she pulled this off and I can see this becoming a trend for award season. It goes against the unspoken rule that it has to be gowns and over the top outfits, Harris just got this look so right.

5. Saoirse Ronan:

This was an outfit that had me torn, when I first saw this look I thought she pulls it off, no doubt about it. But then I thought, is Saoirse Ronan the only one who could pull off something like this on a red carpet? The high neck, the sequins, the fringe and then you have a mesh skirt on top of all of that, yet it somehow works. I think it is a look that could have been hit or miss but she styles it very well, her hair and makeup aren’t the focus it’s the dress itself which can be very hard to achieve especially on a red carpet.
