It’s always hard to pick the right spots to go for a date, especially when it’s a first one. You want to find the right balance of where to go and what to do, so that it leaves you feeling like you got this. First dates can be awkward enough, but the right spot will definitely help you break the ice.
1. The Back Page, Phibsboro.
This cosy little sports bar is the perfect spot to be in a casual, comfortable surrounding to get to know someone. With their games room that has over 100 board games, it’s the perfect thing to break any awkward silences, and let you both relax into it! They also have a fab food menu, with their pizzas being especially tasty. Pizza and a pint = perfection.
2. P Mac’s, Stephen’s Street Lower
This iconic little spot is a perfect spot for craft beers, good tunes, and great atmosphere. Located in the heart of Dublin city, it would be an ideal stop off on a pub crawl. They do an exceptional G&T, and pour a nice pint of Guinness too!
3. Mary’s Bar and Hardware Shop, Wicklow Street
This cute little bar located a stone’s throw off Grafton Street is the best of both worlds for a date. With the delicious ‘Wow Burger’ located downstairs, you can have a few drinks and then head down for a portion of their stunning garlic butter fries. This lovely spot has some rich history attached to it too; Michael Collins and members of the Irish Republican Brotherhood during the Irish War of Independence were regulars to the Wicklow Hotel where Mary’s bar now sits.
4. Token, Smithfield
This bar, restaurant, and retro arcade is a seriously fun spot for the first date. They have over 32 arcade games, and a menu that is to die for. They have a seriously good deal for €19.95, and you get any main, any regular side, any pint/wine/unlimited soda and a bag of 10 tokens! You have to get bacon, truffle, mac and cheese nuggets. They are what’s missing from your life.
5. Liquor Rooms, Wellington Quay
This is a very different cocktail bar, nothing like you will find around Dublin. The inside decor will take you back in time to 1920s, with a burlesque/circus vibes. With cosy little alcoves, and great music, definitely a must visit!
