Our travel editor Eimear Kelly shows us the way to the best Christmas markets.
Okay, I know it’s super early to talk about Christmas and in my defence I usually don’t even think about Christmas until Halloween is over! However, if you want to go to one of the many fabulous Christmas markets around Europe, now is a great time to check out flights and start booking!

1. Brussels, Belgium.

Brussels is so well known for its gorgeous Christmas Markets. Eat Belgian chocolates while strolling around the 250 festive stalls full of creative gifts while only paying €19.99 each way for flights from Dublin! The Brussels Christmas market starts on the 24th November and continues until the 31st December. Leave Dublin airport at 10.30am on Sunday 26th November and return on the following Tuesday evening (28th), for only €19.99 each way!

2. Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Amsterdam is always a huge hit, and the 26 Christmas markets there are just another huge reason to make the trip! If that isn’t enough to convince you maybe the Amsterdam Light Festival will be the cherry on top of the Christmas pudding! Head over on Saturday 2nd December and return home on Monday 4th to avail of €24.99 each way flights.

3. Edinburgh, Scotland, UK.

Scotland is a highly underrated country, in my opinion. It’s gorgeously scenic and of course, it has a beautiful Christmas market. Flights from Dublin to Edinburgh remain at roughly €16.99 for most of December, so if you want to go to a Christmas market closer to Christmas, this is the place for you! The most ideal dates would be Tuesday 19th- Thursday 21st December! The atmosphere would be so amazing!

4. Copenhagan, Denmark.

Copenhagan is a must-see city for me- it’s definitely on my travel bucket list! However, flights are slightly more at the weekends which makes it more difficult to take a weekend trip to avoid missing college! Fly from Dublin to Copenhagan on Saturday 25th November for €21.99 and return the following Tuesday 28th for the same price! Flying home Sunday/Monday would cost more but if you can find inexpensive flights that suit your timetable you should definitely go for it!

These are the four most appealing and affordable Christmas market destinations! All of these flights are with Ryanair and depart from Dublin. I believe that going to any of these Christmas markets would be such a delightful experience and definitely worth the trip! Soak up the Christmas atmosphere, eat Christmas treats or sip on mulled wine while strolling around picking up unique and thoughtful gifts. What could be better?
