The price is a lot cheaper than initially anticipated
Sky Sports revealed the bout between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor on August 26 in Las Vegas will be televised live on Sky Sports Box Office.
The sports channel fought it out against rivals BT Sports and ITV - the latter were said to have the upper hand because due to their connections with UFC.
However, Sky Sports have confirmed that they would show Mayweather v McGregor on their pay-per-view Box Office channel.
According to Eddie Hearn - one of the UK's biggest boxing promoters, Mayweather wanted to charge viewers £100 per ticket to watch the fight on TV.
However, Sky Sports have said the price for the fight is £19.95 in the UK or €24.95 for customers in the Republic of Ireland - across all forms of booking up until midnight Friday 25 August.
Adam Smith, Sky Sports head of boxing reckons the event on August 26th could be even bigger than Anthony Joshua’s clash with Wladimir Klitschko on the channel earlier this year.
“This is surely one of the most anticipated and intriguing contests we’ve ever seen on Sky Sports Box Office,” said Smith.
“Can Conor McGregor, so formidable in the Octagon, make the switch to the ring and create history? What will it mean for Mayweather’s legacy – one of the greatest fighters of all time but coming out of retirement and facing a man at the very top of his game?
“It’s set to be a huge night in Las Vegas – one you won’t want to miss.”
