O2 has teamed with irish designer Emma Manley to launch ‘paper, scissors... rock’ – a once-in-a-liftime competition for young irish designers.

O2 and Emma Manley, one of Ireland’s most successful young designers have teamed up to launch ‘Paper, Scissors... Rock’; a nationwide design competition with a difference from O2. The competition offers aspiring Irish designers the once in a lifetime chance to create a costume and identity for both male and female O2 angels to be worn at every gig, every night at The O2.

If you haven’t seen the O2 angels, they are the amazing promotional team that host O2 customers and music fans at over 100 gigs each year at The O2.The O2 angels make sure that everyone has a great experience at every gig.

A real money-can’t-buy prize is up for grabs.  O2 are offering €2,000 prize money, tickets to The O2 and the winning costumes to be admired by over 1 million music fans visiting The O2 every year.  And it gets better.  Emma Manley, one of Ireland’s hottest young designers, is offering the winner a two week internship in the lead up to her 2013 London and Paris shows.

Entries are to be uploaded online no later than 12.00 noon Monday 10 December.  A shortlist of 6 Finalists will be announced on Thursday 13 December and asked to produce their costumes by Monday 28 January 2013 for final judging.  The panel of experienced judges include Irish designer Emma Manley; Rita Kirwan, O2 Head of Brand & Sponsorship; O2’s Sponsorship Manager for The O2 and music, Jill Keene, O2 Brand Communications Manager, Karen Murphy; and O2 angel & Presenter Lottie Ryan.

Emma Manley said, ‘I’m delighted to be involved with this design competition, it is really tough for fashion designers to get a break and it’s great to see O2 supporting young designers by providing them with such a unique platform for their work to be showcased.’
