The group will kick-start its campaign for political reform with an evening of “political wit, satirical humour and rabble rousing inspiration” in Smockalley Theatre at 6.30pm tonight (June 10).
Some famous and interesting faces from the worlds of sport, politics, and comedy will appear at the event.
“Every campaign relies on its supporters to make the difference between winning and losing, and we are no different,” Democracy Matters writes on its campaign website. “If we are to defeat the Government’s plan to abolish the Seanad we will need as many supporters as possible, so feel free to bring a friend or two.”
This is a free event, but space is limited so it is advised that you RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a space.
Democracy Matters is an "independent broad based group of individuals from across Irish society who will campaign against Government plans to abolish Seanad Eireann".
