TXFM's Shelly Gray spoke to Dublin-born Sample Answer ahead of the highly anticipated release of his new single 'Collision'.
“...everyone would expect this guy in a sombrero, and they only get me, with no sombrero. Sorry.”
Ireland is bursting at the seams with musical talent, but I don’t think I’ve ever felt as excited, or intrigued, about an artist before as I do about Dublin-born, London-based singer-songwriter Maurice O’Connor, who rocks out under the name Sample Answer.
It didn’t take much convincing for me to head over to London last month and have a sit down (which actually turned into a stand-up outside in the freezing cold, hence the sniffles and background noise!) with the undeniable charmer before his gig in The Scotch of St James to discuss his ramblings around London studios and music venues trying to get noticed, the fact that only weirdos don’t like The Beatles and how he used to be a dead ringer for Hotline Bling singer, Drake.
Sample Answer is without doubt one of the most relaxed, cool and witty guys you’ll meet, and an absolute dream to interview.
He’s just as chilled out on stage performing his eclectic mix of original tracks from his two EPs, ‘Good Boy’ and ‘Textile Baby’ along with a beautiful, haunting cover of Christy Moore’s ‘Ride On’ thrown in for good measure.
