Snapchat’s Community Geo-filters are now available in Irish in every county.

Ireland is the top country for Snapchat usage. As a result Snapchat rolled Irish-language Community Geo-filters, which appeared on Snapchat for the first time earlier this week.

The geo-filters were launched as part of Conradh na Gaeilge’s Gaelsnap campaign - a competition to create Snapchat location filters for every county in Ireland as Gaeilge.  Designed by Irish Snapchatters around the world, community geo-filters are now available in all 32 counties.  President of Conradh na Gaeilge, Dr Niall Comer, said, “As the biggest users of Snapchat in the world, it’s fantastic to have the geo-filters as Gaeilge being rolled out for Irish users . We’d like to thank Snapchat for all their co-operation and also all the designers for submitting their amazing work”. The Snapchat geo-filters in Irish will form part of this month’s BÚAGaeilge challenge, a campaign developed by Conradh na Gaeilge to provide people with monthly challenges to use more Irish in their daily lives.
