A female cyclist died following a collision with a tractor this afternoon.
The incident happened on the N28 Cork /Ringaskiddy Rd at around 1.00 pm today.
The cyclist (60s) suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her body was brought to Cork University Hospital, where a post mortem is due to take place.
The driver of the tractor was uninjured.
Traffic diversions are in place and forensic collision investigators are at the scene.
Traffic approaching from Shannon Park roundabout is diverted to Carrigaline and traffic from Ringaskiddy is diverted to Rapheen.
The deceased woman is the eleventh cyclist to lose her lives on our roads so far this year, compared to ten during all of 2016.
110 people have been killed on Irish roads overall so far in 2017.
