Our Fashion Editor Fiona Hyland, gives us her top picks in what to expect from the River Island spring summer 2015 collection.
Last week, River Island launched their new Spring Summer collection. Where fierce folk meets seventies boho, lilac and lemon dominate, and monochrome is a trend that’s here to stay, Spring Summer 2015 at River Island caters for everyone.
For those of you heading to festivals, retro inspired dressing prevails this year, with rich earthy colours and the return of the flares. Try pairing bell-bottoms with a silky halter-top and killer wedges for a Laura Prepon-esque look from That 70s Show.
Tan and fringes will be everywhere this summer. From sandals to jackets, kimonos and bikinis, boho chic is a massive trend for 2015. White lace, embroidery and cutwork combine for a softer approach to the hippie feel.
Pastel colours are certainly one to watch out for this spring, with lilacs and lemons leading the way. However for those of us who are pale-skinned and afraid of looking washed out, try adding just a touch of pastel with a structured satchel or a pretty headband.
Ghetto sports meets modern glam with metallic and denim mini skirts paying tribute to the 90s. Metallic runners meet cool co-ords, while mesh paneling is placed over clean tailoring for an urban-retro vibe.
With a nod to nautical, River Island are embracing stripes this summer. Print clashing is key, pairing striped cotton tees with bold kimonos and worn denim shorts.
Not forgetting the boys of course, River Island are mixing tropical prints with textured knits for those chilly summer evenings, with bold and tailoring lightly layered for perfect summer wear.
Mixing statement white denim shorts with tropical bomber jackets create a slick summer look. Rose-gold zips add a luxury edge to outerwear.
Blue is a key colour this season; everything from denim to rainmacs, in every wash you could imagine. Try injecting a splash of colour with some tie-dye shirts or a pair of pastel espadrilles.
