Black seemed to be the predominant colour at this year’s Grammy Awards.
Despite the drama of Rihanna backing out of her performance at the last minute and Taylor Swift’s rumoured dig at Kanye West, this year’s Grammy Awards wasn’t quite as extravagant as other years. Here are this year’s hits and misses of the big night.
Demi Lovato looked smokin’ hot in her high slit Norisol Ferrari gown at the 2016 Grammy Awards. She added body jewellery to draw attention to the low-cut dress.
Beyonce was stunning in white as she wore a wedding gown by the Israeli designer Inal Dror. She further added a sheer bottom with a lace bodice.
How fabulous did Adele look in her black Givenchy long-sleeve gown? Her dress had a bit of sparkle and shine with shoulder cut-outs. Her slimmed down body was defined with the dress clinching her waist.
Justin Bieber looked handsome in his white Saint Laurent white tux and a black shirt. His hair was slicked back and he looked well put together. He gets thumbs up for this look.
Big Sean wore a similar look to Justin Bieber. He sported a white Z Zegna tuxedo suit and a black lapel.
Lady Gaga looked kind of cool and retro in her David Bowie tribute outfit. She wore an electric blue Marc Jacobs piece with orange hair and blue eyeshadow. Her red shoes had an insanely high platform. Some critics are saying she looked clownish, but, it is Lady Gaga after all - the queen of crazy outfits.
Kaley Cuoco looked undoubtedly sexy in a Naeem Khan white sparkling jumpsuit to the Grammy’s with a triangular cutout at the front.
Speaking of jumpsuits, model Nicole Trunfio’s metallic one was amazing. The plunging neckline on her Zuhair Murad look was very chic.
Chrissy Teigen couldn’t be cuter showing off her baby bump in an all white Yousef Al-Jasmi gown with a sheer cape covered in sparkling embellishments. Her accessories were fabulous; an octagon-shaped Amanda Pearl clutch with fashionable Lorraine Schwartz rings.
Her husband John Legend wore a Gucci suit jacket with a gold print to really stand out from the rest.
Ellie Goulding looked stunning in her light pink Stella McCartney dress. A draped metallic back brought an edge to her girly look. Her hair was natural and her necklace was eye-catching and luxurious.
Carrie Underwood confused us with an odd Johnathon Arndt necklace with red and yellow stones. She paired this piece with her Nicolas Jebran black dress. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite work for her.
Ciara left nothing to the imagination with her revealing Alexandre Vauthier gown. The slit was extremely high. She has the sexy body to pull it off, but, for the Grammy’s? No Ciara.
Vanessa Lachey’s Michael Cinco dress was dreadful. It started out with a high neck with sequins and descended into a sheer skirt with embellishments.
Queue the cute couple, Bella Hadid and The Weeknd. They both looked fantastic in black. The Weeknd looked dapper in a suit with a shinier lapel and Bella wore an Alexandre Vauthier Paris dress. Her plunging neckline was teamed with alluring cut-outs.
Tove Lo’s make-up was a huge no-no. Her pink-orange cat-eye was too dramatic and her nose ring was totally unsuitable.
Taylor Swift got it so wrong this year. The colour combination of her Atelier Versace two piece didn’t work. Her pink magenta bottom was completely open showing her long legs and she paired it with an orange tube top. Despite her outfit being a disaster, her make-up, hair and accessories were a good choice.
Taylor’s BFF Selena Gomez chose a deep Calvin Klein Collection blue-sequin gown for the Grammy’s. Her hair and make-up were on point. However, the cut-outs on her dress didn’t quite show off the amazing figure she has. She teamed her look with Norman Silverman hooped ear-rings and a David Webb blue and green ring.
Fetty Wap looked similar to Justin Bieber and Big Sean in his black and white do. He wore a white shiny suit jacket with overpowering gold chains.
Jacqueline Van Bierk looked, well, interesting. Her fairy themed look was created by an unusual black dress with odd feather arm pieces and a weird cape.
Overall, this year wasn’t as big as other years. Maybe it’s the fact that Calvin Harris, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Drake and Lauryn Hill were a few of many that were no-shows.
