Our Fashion Editor Fiona Hyland shows us all River Island has to offer this coming season.
Last week, River Island launched their Autumn Winter collection. Yes, I know it’s still the middle of July, but trust us, once you see this fabulous collection, you’ll be longing for the leaves to chance and the temperatures to drop, just so you can wrap up in one of their fabulous shaggy coats, or seventies inspired boots.
Autumn Winter at River Island intertwines the feisty, adventurous side of the sixties, along with the relaxed, bohemian vibe of the seventies era.
Earthy browns and burnt orange will dominate, while blush pinks will give the collection a girly edge.  Masculine suits in caramel and chocolate are juxtaposed with pussy bow blouses and flute sleeves to give a bohemian edge to the collection.
Trouser-wise, culottes and flares will dominate. While they may be daunting at first, trust us, they’ll make you look longer and leaner and flatter almost any figure.
Embrace your inner Sabrina, The Teenage Witch with their 70s Glam Rock collection. This collection also introduces knee high boots, plunging mesh necklines and skinny scarves. Not for the faint hearted, but we say “dare to be different!”
However the pièce de résistance is definitely their Parisian inspired 60s collection. We couldn’t be more excited about this tough, yet cute look. Sixties tailoring meets a contemporary, rebellious sister, mixing things up with leather and zips.
Key items include sorbet shaggy coats, well structured mini skirts and quirky ankle boots, and we want them all.
Texture is a huge part of the collection, including pony hair, suede, wools and mesh. And while black on black is here to stay, it looks like grey and tan will also be frontrunners on the colour spectrum. Accessories will be no different; prepare to see shaggy scarves, furry clutch bags, and fringe satchels.
Our highlights from the collection include these staple River Island black fringe heels, and these fabulously sixties leopard ankle boots. Keep your eyes peeled ladies, because they won’t be in stock for long!
