Chelsea Play Countdown


Last weekend Chelsea beat visitors Manchester United 4-0 at Stamford Bridge. A video went viral of Chelsea’s first goal scored by Pedro inside the first minute with the ‘Countdown’ clock acting as a backing track. The clip finishes with a shot of ‘The Special One’ and former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho looking disgusted after his team’s early slip up. The video which was posted by Leisure League received 4.2 million views and was shared over 60k times.




DCU Student Laura Horan’s story of homelessness


In a recent video produced by the Media Production Society of DCU, journalism student Laura Horan opened up about her experience with homelessness in Ireland. She explains that when was just 10-years-old living in a homeless shelter she thought she was living in a hotel until one Christmas she received a gift of toys in a decorated shoebox. The kind of shoeboxes she used to put together for homeless children when she was younger. The video was made in preparation for the MPS 24hour Broadcast where all funds raised will be going to the Peter McVerry Trust. While the video alone received 33k views, the story was picked up by media outlets including The Irish Times, The Irish Independent, RSVP Magazine and to name but a few.




Sunday morning mass on RTE- Facebook Event


A Facebook event was created earlier this week for a Sunday mass taking place in Dublin on 30t​h October. After a few humorous puns and posts slating Christianity were shared and the event became viral. Tens of posts received over 10k likes including a mock Pat Hickey page offering tickets and a post reading “Mayo for psalms”. Over 100k people have clicked attending and over 23k users have posted to the page hoping it will catch fire for their fifteen minutes of fame.
