Steven Casey has some super Irish films in his recommendations this week.
Look, it's not even Hump Day yet and we're feeling the blues. This back-to-college lark is tough. Why not skip study this evening and unwind with a flick?

1. Maze

It was supposed to be one of the most secure prisons in Europe. Tom Vaughn-Lawlor, better known as the infamous Nidge from Love/Hate, stars in the true story of how 38 IRA members escaped from the Maze Prison in Northern Ireland. A gripping movie from director Stephen Burke.

2. The Drummer and the Keeper

Another great Irish film to check out this week is this Irish drama about an unlikely friendship between two teenage boys. Gabriel, a reckless young drummer with bi-polar disorder, and Christopher, a 17 year old Asperger’s Syndrome, longing to fit in.

3. Blade Runner 2049

Thirty years after the original film, Blade Runner 2049 sees Ryan Gosling take the lead while Harrison Ford’s character, now retired, lends a hand to defeat Jared Leto’s character. LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling) unearths a secret that can plunge society into chaos…

4. Blade Runner (The Final Cut)

The original movie, Blade Runner (The Final Cut) is also showing in selected cinemas this week ahead of the release of Blade Runner 2049. Starring Harrison Ford and Rutger Hauer.
