Songs For Amy, a new Irish film, will be heading to the US in 2013. The Gersh Agency in Beverly Hills has snapped up the film.

Written and produced by Fiona Graham, the film is shot in her native Galway and in New York, with Konrad Begg directing. Songs For Amy features former EastEnders star Sean Maguire as a down at heel musician who writes an album for his girlfriend Amy who’s played by River City’s Lorna Anderson.

Also featuring Brixton acid country house merchants Alabama 3 and Hollywood star Patrick Bergin, it premiered at California’s Newport Beach Film Festival in May where it was ranked fourth in terms of ‘Audience Buzz’, and won the Jury Award for Outstanding Achievement in Filmmaking.

“We’ve just been signed by The Gersh Agency which is one of the best and biggest agencies in the US and they will be looking after worldwide sales,” said Graham. “It's really great news to be represented by such a prestigious agency.”

It’s also good news for Oranmore singer-songwriter Ultan Conlon who supplied much of the original music.

“We’re excited about the potential of this feel-good film,” said Jay Cohen of Gersh. “It is beautifully shot with great performances and a fantastic soundtrack.”

Perhaps we’ll have another Once next year.
