Calling all horror enthusiasts. Get ready for fright night. Ireland’s most terrifying Halloween scare house is back. Are you ready for the ultimate horror extravaganza?
Campus.ie braved the spine-tingling Nightmare Realm’s RDS launch last week to bring you news of haunted hostels, evil clowns, asylums, zombies and so much more. Get ready to have your deepest fears and nightmares realised-you’re on set in your own real life horror movie.
Coulrophobia : that’s the official name for the overwhelming sense of panic, difficulty breathing, irregular heartbeat, sweating and nausea caused by a fear of clowns. But why are we so terrified of these brightly coloured jesters? What makes their painted faces and outlandish costumes so sinister? Enter into Charlie Chops 3-D Clown House and you’ll soon find out!
Forget Stephen Kings IT and Penneywise the Clown, these chainsaw-loving performers just want to party in style. Okay, so they may be unhinged, and a little (a lot!) unpredictable, but Charlie Chops clowns are just misunderstood clown-folk hell-bent on showing you their true and bloody nature.
The Nightmare Realm Hostel has relocated to the RDS Ballsbridge this year to bring the horror of Hostel owner, Earl to the residents of Dublin.
This dastardly proprietor is plagued by rumours of disappearing guests and strange drilling sounds coming from his establishment at night. Earl is quick to quash rumours however-he doesn’t want anyone to get suspicious. If you visit the Nightmare Realm Hostel be sure to ask about room 237. It’s definitely the best room in the house - people are just dying to stay there.
Next on the list of haunted house attractions is Gruber Asylum. This fiendish place, and home to the criminally insane, will test the limits of your very sanity. Danger lurks around every corner so those brave enough to venture into the Nightmare Realm better watch their backs!
Our little birds tell us that this mad house was one of Dublin’s best kept secrets. That is, of course, until its owners decided to open it up to the public to fund their crazy scientific experiments. Now foolish tourists can walk the eerie halls of Bedlam and get a sense of how the inmates really live. Be careful friends, a bit like Hotel California, once you visit Gruber Asylum, you might never truly leave.
Full of references, characters and moments from iconic horror films, The Nightmare Realm is a thrilling experience for all hardcore horror enthusiasts. It is guaranteed to get your adrenaline pumping, your palms sweaty and your heart racing.
Still not convinced? Don’t worry; Charlie Chop’s Army of the Dead will take care of any doubts you may have. Zombie hoards roam the zones outside the Nightmare Realm haunts looking for stragglers to pick off one by one.
Be careful or you might just end up joining an apocalypse cause, and be recruited to join the army of the dead as they fight for a free and independent Nightmare Realm. Viva la Charlie Chop!
The Nightmare Realm in the RDS, Ballsbridge will run from the 29 September until the 5 November and at a new venue on Kennedy Quay, Cork from 6 October to 5 November.
Looking for an alternative way to spend your Halloween this year? Why not dare to enter The Nightmare Realm? Cork's infamous scare house has invaded the RDS for the second year in a row, transforming it into an extreme walk-through horror event designed to prey on your deepest fears and twisting them into a deadly reality. Be warned, this show is not for the faint of heart. If you are a true thrill enthusiast and think you’re brave enough, then get your tickets right here. Just don’t say we didn’t warn you!
