Donegal indie band 'For Foresters' are set to release their debut single 'Towels' in March of this year.
The band were formed in 2015 by guitarist/singer Gabriel Blake, bassist Conal Doherty and drummer Gary Hamilton and have gone on to enjoy gigs all over the country, including Electric Picnic and the Other Voices trail in Derry.
'Towels' was inspired by a traumatic morning in Gabriel's home, when his father informed him of news from his mother in the hospital. The resulting song is a haunting medley with echoing vocals against throbbing bass and percussion.
'For Foresters' have enjoyed critical acclaim since their launch with the Last Mixed Tape saying of their music: "A sonically sophisticated slice of indie-folk.. Never skips a beat in terms of songwriting.. A new and exciting sound bathed in reverb and given life by great melody, harmony and rhythm.. The trio's wild-hearted folk sound will not stay a secret for very long."
Having played together for the best part of six years, the lads have secured a place in Whelan's coveted 'One to Watch' list for this year and will play the venue this Sunday the 15th January at 11pm. The band also plan to have a bigger launch night for the single in March for its release.
