Whether you like indie, pop, house, techno or disco music, there’s something on for you.
1. New Year’s Festival Dublin
The obvious choice of course. What better way to start off 2017 than being on the streets of Dublin listening to some of Ireland's most popular acts? Kicking off at 8pm at St. Stephens Green, the festival will be headlined by one of Ireland’s most popular alternative rock bands right now - Walking On Cars.
They will be warmed up by The Blizzards, Brian Deadly and Little Hours and with a ticket price of just €27.90, it will hardly break the bank. A sing song on the streets of Dublin with people from all four corners of the world, as the fireworks ascend in the sky all around the city, it’s a tough one to turn down.
2. Ben Pearce @ Opium Rooms
A renowned House DJ since he released his single “What I Might Do” just over 4 years ago, Ben Pearce has performed all around the world including the iconic Space, Ibiza and is coming to one of the most popular House/Techno nightclubs in Dublin, Opium Rooms on Wexford Street.
He’ll be kicking off at 11:00pm on Saturday and if you’re a lover of house music, then there’s no need to go for the traditional fireworks display and the singing of “Auld Land Syne”. Stick to what you like and get your tickets.
3. O’Reilly’s Bar Tara Street - CLUB HELL
For anyone that has been to O’Reilly’s on Tara St. they’ll know the story. Free/Cheap entry and guaranteed cheap drinks - you can’t go wrong - and New Year’s Eve is no different. Tickets are just €6.98 to its CLUB HELL NYE Ball with 1 euro shots and 3 euro on all drinks.
Doors will open at 9 but there is an option to pay at the door so get down early to ensure you won’t be stranded on the streets. Located just a 3 minute walk from O’Connell St. and right on the DART line at Tara St. station, it really is in prime location.
4. Wah Wah Club NYE Jam
It’s hard to believe that there are so many great acts playing in one night under one roof. The Wah Wah Club that operates in the walls of popular nightclub Grand Social will be putting on a NYE party not to be missed if you’re into house, disco, soul, funk and techno.
Acts such as New Jackson (Live), DJ Deece, This Greedy Pig, Subject, Welcome, Lerosa, Sage, Galactic Beat Club, and Cailin and Eavan will have you boogying into 2017 in style. Tickets are priced at €15 to €20 plus booking fee if you order on time and as for location? The north side of the Ha’penny bridge - so don’t worry about accessibility.
5. KORMAC AV - NYE at the Button Factory
If you cross the other side of the bridge, you will of course find yourself in Temple Bar where you’ll find one of the city’s most popular venues for hosting acts, the Button Factory. This year they will host Kormac, a Dublin based DJ who’s been playing since 2007.
He can play keys, guitar and turntables and his unique sound to cross house music with jazz is admirable. Early bird tickets started at €15 but if you can get your hands on a set, don’t think twice. Dance your way into Kormac’s 10th year of producing in heart of Dublin’s nightlife.
