The DIT Alfa Romeo Fashion show, the most anticipated event of the academic year is due to take place on the 24th of March of Vicar Street.
The show which is always a hit is run entirely by the students of DIT with the support of the DIT societies Office. `The theme of this year?s show is ?Rockin Revolution? and all proceeds raised will go to the DIT Foundation, in particular to the Student Assistance Fund, which helps students who are in financial difficulty to complete their studies.
A big element of the show is the National Student Design Award which will be presented to one of the eight short listed student designers whose designs under the Rock Revolution theme will be judged on the night. Of this year?s finalists, five of the designs come from students from the Grafton Academy while three come from NCAD.
All the designs will be modelled by students from DIT. The Panel of Judges who will choose the winning design are: Corina Gaffney, Garret Pitcher, Jean Melia, Maria Fusco and Eilish Boyle. This year?s winning student designer will receive ?2,000 plus a specially commissioned trophy and there will also be big prizes awarded to the best male and best female model.
Over 80 students from DIT are involved in the running of the show in areas like event management, public relations, modelling and stage design. Indeed the stage on the night has been designed by DIT students Eliza Mc Laughlin who is in her final year of Media Arts, and Interior Design student Suzie Mc Adam, assisted by Catapult Design.
Tickets for the DIT Alfa Romeo Fashion Show cost 20 euro for students/25 euro for non-students and are available from DIT Student Union shop and from www.Tickets.ie.
