Christmas came early for hundreds of children around Galway this year thanks to Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology Student's Union.
This year the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology Student's Union ran a #SUHEROES campaign centered on fundraising and the collection of new toys for underprivileged families and sick children in hospital.
The toys will be distributed through the Saint Vincent De Paul and will also be given to children in University College Hospital Galway over the Christmas period.
The December campaign saw the Student's Union encourage students to run their own events and fundraisers.
Over 500 brand new toys were collected along with a brand new XBOX One being donated to the University College Hospital Galway Paediatric ward.

Speaking as the toys were delivered last Friday, SU President Sam O’Neill said he was "overwhelmed" by the reaction to the campaign.
“We have been delighted with the success of the campaign and overwhelmed by the goodwill and generosity of the staff, students, businesses and local community for these great causes,” he said.
“The hard work put into the campaign by the SU team was worthwhile when you see the smiles on the kids’ faces in the Hospital. I would like to thank all the people and businesses that donated, you really are SU HEROES.”
