DIT is to take part in this years Innovation Dublin festival 2010, which will run from Wednesday 10 - 21 November. The aim of the festival is to provide all interested parties; entrepreneurs, researchers, artists and of course students with a chance to promote and celebrate innovation in the city.
Along with other companies and organisations, DIT will do their bit and host a number of events over the ten-day period. The Dublin based Institute will host events each day over the festival's duration with a variety of topics ranging from engineering seminars to game design workshops and a special one day conference offering students guidelines on how to foster innovation through forward thinking.
One of the areas in which DIT will hope to demonstrate forward thinking is the announcement of this years winner of the DIT inventor competition. The aim of the competition is to encourage creativity and invention by recognising researchers, students and colleagues as inventors. The competition has been very successful over the years in unveiling exciting inventors with equally exciting creations and it is hoped that this year will be no different. Winners of the 2010 Inventor competition will be announced on Friday November 19 at 11am in The Courtyard, DIT, Aungier Street.
Another innovating workshop on offer by DIT is the 5th annual Ernest Adams Workshop on Computer game design for secondary school students. The idea behind the event is to allow the school of computing in DIT, in conjunction with the Irish Computer Society and Microsoft Ireland, to demonstrate the skills and benefits of the sector to aspiring computer wizards.
