The pair will launch their new 98FM breakfast show in November. They will be replacing presenters Aiden Power and Clare Solan’s slot.
“Like everyone else in Dublin, I can’t believe 98FM are giving me and JP the breakfast show!” Foley said. “This show has been a dream of mine ever since I was a newsreader on 98FM a decade ago.”
He added: “I’ll miss my mates in Today FM but this prospect was just too tempting to turn down. Dublin is in for a rude awakening.”
Insisting that it’s “not a money thing”, the 32-year-old says he’s been itching to present a breakfast show, although admits the thought of competing with now former colleague Ian Dempsey is “terrifying.”
As for who will take-over the Today FM noon slot, it is rumoured that KC who currently presents the early evening show will fill that position.
Ray Foley picked up numerous PPI and Meteor Awards over his six years with Today FM. During that time he also successfully made the transition to TV with the Irish version ofTake Me Out and lent his name to a best-selling rock compilation album.
