Cure your hangover – once and for all!

One thing you should prepare yourself for (and I bet you cannot wait!) is heading out during the week with all your new friends. What better way is there to forget about all the hard work you’ve done in class that day? But there’s one thing we all forget….hangovers.

Getting ossified in the college pub and hitting the town to dance the night away is all fine and dandy and great craic – that is until the next morning.

You’re alarm blares, you’ve hit snooze 10 times already and that’s when it dawns on you…SH*T you had class at nine this morning and it’s already half past, that assignment that you spent all yesterday morning on was due today too and to top it all off your head is only banging. Hangovers are killer and – newsflash – they will never get any easier to deal with. The only thing you can do is be prepared. Here are the best ways to beat the hangover blues:

More water

This might sound like an obvious one, but most people wait until the morning after a big night out to try down a two-litre bottle of RiverRock, when their throat has dried up to bits and the taste of those Sambucas still hasn’t left. What you should be doing is drinking water before you head out – this will help keep you hydrated. Hangover, what hangover?!

Don’t skip dinner

Eat before you head out for the night. Drinking on an empty stomach is not a good idea, so make sure you eat something to line your stomach. This will slow down the absorption of alcohol.

No smoking

Do you smoke? No? Well don’t start. There are tonnes of people who claim they’re not smokers, but will own up to having the odd few fags with a couple of pints. This will not help your stomach one bit the next morning, especially if you don’t smoke on a regular basis.

Eggs on toast

Poached, fried, scrambled, hard boiled, it’s up to you! Even if you don’t like eggs a couple of slices of toast will help you on your way to recovery. The carbohydrates and protein will send that hangover sailing out the window before you know it.

No naggins

No matter what your friends tell you believe me, it’s all just a myth having a drink the next day will do you no favours whatsoever. If anything it will just worsen your problem.
