Final year has probably been your toughest year to date. The reality of having actually to adult, combined with deadlines, major projects, dissertations and exams will have probably taken over your entire year. You’re here now, and you’ve finally done it! Next stop, celebrations!
Here’s how you can make the best of your final year celebrations.
A night to remember
You’ve spent the last few years with these people and they have pulled you through the worst moments in college life. So, a class night out can be a good way to celebrate all you’ve achieved as a group.
You’ll want your last big hurrah to be a night to remember so keeping track of your alcohol intake will ensure you remember every last detail of your last night together as a group.
It takes our bodies one hour to process one standard drink. So if you’re consuming alcohol faster than this, pace yourself to enjoy yourself.
When it comes to going on a night out, we’ve all been in the panic position at some stage. Maybe your phone died, you lost your taxi money, or forgot your house keys.
To avoid these moments of total and utter horror, make sure to pack all the essentials so you can enjoy your night stress free. Make sure to keep some spare cash for your taxi in a hidden place in your wallet and don’t forget to charge both your phone and portable charger. This way you’ll know you have enough juice to get you through the night and home safely.
Make a plan
Make a plan with your pals for getting home. Is there a friend who is taking the same taxi or bus route home? If so, decide on a meeting place and time in case you anyone gets lost and head home together.
Ok so we know the body can only process one standard drink per hour – but what is one standard drink?
One standard drink is a half a pint of beer, larger and stout (yes, half). A small glass of wine (100ml) or a pub measure of spirts – 35.5ml of your whiskey, gin or vodka.
Between drinks its a good idea to rehydrate with water or a soft drink.
Up for work the next day?
Maybe you’re up for work the next day, or you have to meet a friend, pacing yourself, or choosing non-alcoholic alternatives will make sure you wake up feeling fresh and ready to take on the day.
We’re lucky in Ireland that we now have a huge variety of non-alcoholic beers, wines and mocktails to choose from. So if you’re busy the next day, or drinking just isn’t your thing, then this could be an option for you.
