After the 75th Golden Globes last Sunday, awards season is well and truly underway. Here are some of the main films up for awards this year.
Dunkirk
Christopher Nolan wrote and directed this dramatisation of the evacuation of allied troops in Dunkirk during World War II. Kenneth Branagh, Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy lead the cast while Ireland’s Barry Keoghan, has been hotly tipped for best-supporting actor awards.

The Post
Steven Spielberg directs Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks in this screenplay written by Liz Hannah and Josh Singer about political scandal, the governments that tried to cover it up, and the United States’ first female newspaper publisher determined to uncover the truth. Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story), Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) and Bradley Whitford (The West Wing) also star.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri
Martin McDonagh directs Frances McDormand (Fargo) in this drama which sees the lengths a mother will go through to challenge the local authorities to find her daughter’s killer. Woody Harrelson (The Glass Castle), Sam Rockwell (Conviction), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones)

Get Out
One of the surprise hits of 2017 is this racially charged suspense-filled thriller written and directed by Jordan Peele (of Key and Peele fame). Get Out stars Daniel Kaluuya and Allison Williams (Girls) as a couple who visit her parents, played by Bradley Whitford, (The Post) and Catherine Keener (Captain Phillips)
