Lipstick and lip care

With our refusal to stop wearing matte lipstick and the irritating weather, our lips are drier than ever. Here are some things you could be doing to keep them kissably soft.
Chapped lips season seems to be never ending and with the matte lipstick trend here to stay, our lips are in dire need of some TLC. Never fear, we are here to tell you how to keep your lips hydrated and silky smooth.
Gather your Vaseline, lip scrub and toothbrush. Yes, you heard that right, toothbrush.
To get rid of any dead skin and flakes on your lips, scrub it with a toothbrush. Every night before you go to bed, take two minutes after brushing your teeth to brush your lips as well. Not only does it exfoliate your lips, it makes more blood pump through your lips, making them look bigger.
Lip scrub is another great way to exfoliate your lips and keep them looking kiss ready. You can pick them up from Mac for around €16, or down to Penneys lip scrub for €1.50. However, if you’re a bit more crafty, you can always make a homemade one. All you have to do is add a tablespoon of brown sugar with just enough honey or olive oil to get it to stick together. You can add a drop of vanilla extract and food colouring if you want to be extra, but only need two ingredients to keep your lips fleeked. Use your lip scrub once or twice a week to give you a perfect pout.
And of course, lip balm is your saviour. If you don’t own at least four tubs of Vaseline, do you even take care of your lips? Every night smother your lips in lip balm to keep them smooth. Try to drink as much water as possible, not only for your lips but all of your skin will thank you.
Also, try not to lick your lips throughout the day to keep the moisture in your lips. Definitely do not at pick your lips! Just simply exfoliate your lips every night and morning.
