Breaking down barriers: jaden smith cast as new face of louis vuitton

Jaden Smith, son of actor Will Smith, is the new face of Louis Vuitton’s womenswear collection for Spring/Summer 2016.
The announcement was made through Nicholas Ghesquiere’s Instagram account, who is the creative director of the fashion brand.
Smith (17) can be seen alongside three female models in new photographs which have been revealed following a recent photo shoot.
Smith wears a studded skirt, crochet top, leather jacket and loafers from the new SS16 collection.
Jaden doesn’t look one bit out of place next to his female colleagues as he poses with complete ease.
While he may be better known for his rapping, Jaden is also famous for his gender-neutral sense of fashion.
Not being one to follow the crowd or conform to social norms, he was pictured last year wearing a skirt to Amanda Stenberg’s prom, who plays Rue in The Hunger Games.
In 2013, Smith introduced gender-neutral tunics and skirts into his own fashion label, MSFTSrep.
According to Ghesquiere, Jaden Smith was selected for the ad campaign because, “he represents a generation that has assimilated the codes of freedom, one that is free of manifestos and questions about gender.”
The bold move by Louis Vuitton is a huge step in breaking social norms in regards to fashion.
It shows that just because you’re not female, it doesn’t mean that you can not wear female clothes.
