College Life

Why University Limerick Should be on Your CAO List

A new year is always so exciting. For many 6th year students, you can imagine that 2019 is going to be an important year, where they will be choosing just what happens after the Leaving Certificate. Choosing what route you want to go down can be difficult. An internship or college? Gap year or straight into the working world?

Once you choose what you want to do, you also need to be a bit more specific. Say you’ve decided you’ll be going to college- what do you want to do? Where do you want to do it? So why choose University Limerick?

The beautiful campus
The campus of the University of Limerick has been dubbed one of the most beautiful University campuses anywhere in the world. With so much green space, it is the perfect place to go for a walk, soak up some nature, and take in some of the most eye-catching sights.

The Library ladies
One of my favourite things about the University of Limerick is their amazing library- the Glucksman Library. The Glucksman Library is famous in UL for the ladies that work in the library café. These women are everything that is so pure about the college and more. It may seem like I’m exaggerating, but it’s ironic and makes sense that the staff in the library café would be so lovely.

UL sport
The facilities offered by UL Sports Arena are to die for! If there ever was an incentive to get – or keep fit at UL it is the UL Sports Arena with its 50m National Swimming pool and top-class health and leisure facilities- And that’s only parts of what is indoors! The UL Sports Arena has a range of all-weather pitches in the surrounding area. Gym membership is so very reasonable for University of Limerick Students at just over 200 euro for the school year.

More than 70 clubs & socs to choose from
With the variation of over 70 different clubs and societies, there is a hobby out there for everyone. The University of Limerick is always on hand to help you find out what exactly that hobby is. There are the usual, classic clubs such as Gaelic football, badminton, and the likes but there is also a range of more interesting clubs to partake in such as Parkour and Ultimate Frisbee. As for the societies. Well, there in a league of their own with a week dedicated solely to them –  SoUL Week where societies can showcase what they can really do.

The wide range of courses

The University of Limerick offers more than 70 undergraduate courses across the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; Health Sciences, Science and Engineering as well as Business.

Have I sold the University to you? All jokes aside, it’s easy to get bogged down with choosing the right course and University for you. Personally, the University of Limerick is perfect in every single way!
