UCD’s Student Housing Scheme Gets The Go-Ahead

UCD’s development plans for more than 2,100 student beds at the Belfield campus, built in two stages, has been approved by An Bord Pleanála.

An Bord Pleanála lowered its original plan from 3,006 beds to 2,178 due to complaints from locals. The third space with 888 beds in a ten-story building has been refused due to its impact on Roebuck Castle, a protected structure.

The board has ruled for the fast-tracked planning to go ahead despite complaints from local residents, councilors and the Transport Minister Shane Ross, according to The Irish Independent.
