TU – Dublin Warn Students Against Mumps

Following cases of the mumps being reported in colleges in Dublin, TUD (Technological University Dublin), formerly DIT (Dublin Institute of Technology)  have started to take precautions and warn unvaccinated students to avail of their free health service.

In a statement, TUD said “In light of this (the spread of mumps in Dublin colleges), TU Dublin – City Campus believe it is advisable for any student who has not received two MMR vaccinations to contact the Student Health Centre for a vaccination. This service is free to all TU Dublin-City Campus full-time students and our Health Centres are in Aungier Street and Linenhall.”

The university went on to list symptoms students should watch for, which include headaches, tiredness and tender salivary glands. Mumps can also give the appearance of swollen cheeks or jaw.
